VMWorld 2009

Laurus Technologies’ System Engineer, Vitaly Tsipris,  recently attended the 2009 VMWorld in San Francisco.  The four day event, August 31- September3 covered a range of topics and featured speakers. With any conference, it really comes down to what you take away from it and can implement in your own IT programs.

Three topics resonated from the conference: VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), SRM (Site Recovery Manager) and vSphere 4.

A good understanding and implementation of these topics will provide companies with key benefits such as:

  • Managebility of desktops
  • Security of company’s data
  • Standardization of desktop environment
  • Improve resource utilization
  • Cut costs associated with desktop provisioning and management
  • More reliability in Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Ability to meet current RTO (Recovery Time Objective) with existing plan

These are just a few main trends that Vitaly spotted at VMWorld. Vitaly has recently worked in several VDI deployments and POCs, and currently is focusing on a SRM project. He has also installed and upgraded environments to vSphere 4. If you would like to learn more about all these solutions, please visit us on the Web at www.laurustech.com. Healthcare Security and You

Laurus Technologies healthcare security expert, Mike Carr, discusses EMR and the effect new policies may have on your own financial security. Our company has recently partnered with FairWarning®, a healthcare privacy surveillance that provides a convenient way to make sure hospitals and healthcare providers honor HIPAA and other government guidelines. These guidelines are unique to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which has denoted EHR as a cost-effective solution to some of the caregiver workflow issues currently experienced nationwide. This helps protect healthcare data from:

  • Medical identity theft
  • VIP snooping
  • Co-worker, family or neighbor snooping
  • Identity theft
  • EHR misuse
