Cover Letters – Don’t waste your time! I often get asked my “opinion” on cover letters and their effectiveness. I recently came across this article by Phil Rosenberg which I felt gave a very good insight to this topic. Here are some interesting statistics:
1. Most HR staff don’t forward cover letters.
2. 80% of hiring managers will read the resume first.
3. Job boards don’t keyword search cover letters – only resumes.
4. Most ATSes don’t scan cover letters
5. Customize your resume – spent the time there.
